The high cost of college is a perennial topic of the news. Despite rising costs, some colleges are installing things like lazy rivers to attract students.

Consider the following questions:

• What do colleges have to have in order to ensure students a high-quality learning experience? 
• What amenities (desirable features) do you think are necessary to have to good college experience? 
• Do colleges need amenities like lazy rivers? What benefits would these provide to the students? 
• If you were a college president, would you talk your board of trustees into installing something like a lazy river?  
• Who should pay for college amenities like lazy rivers? 
• Most colleges are governed by a board of trustees, who have the final say on how colleges spend their money. Who should have a say on how colleges spend their money: students, professors, trustees, politicians, or someone else?
• How can colleges lower their expenses and, consequently, their tuition?
