Our mission is to help homeschooling families raise great citizens.
Silverdale Press was founded out of a desire to provide high quality education resources to homeschooling families. We believe the best materials are crafted by experts in their subjects. We want equip homeschool families to educate their children with excellence and confidence. Silverdale Press seeks to cultivate knowledge and sharpen skills, preparing students for a lifetime of citizenship. Headquartered in Winchester, Virginia, Silverdale Press was founded by Joshua and Jill Hummer, who are the parents of four children and advocates for homeschooling. |

Jill A. Hummer, Ph.D. |
Jill is an author, mom, educator, and Ph.D. She is an expert on American political history and the author of two books: First Ladies and American Women: In Politics and at Home and Laura Bush: From Texas to the World Stage (forthcoming). She is a former professor of political science, having taught in higher education for two decades. She is currently homeschooling her four children and raising them to be great citizens!

Joshua E. Hummer, Esq. |
Joshua has been practicing law for almost twenty years and currently works at the Relational Estate and Elder Law. His practice centers on representing local and national businesses and non-profits in civil issues. He has served on the board of directors of many philanthropic organizations, including the Child-Safe Center, NW Works, and the Winchester/Frederick County Triad. He also served on the Seventh District Disciplinary Committee of the Virginia State Bar. He earned his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he participated in Moot Court and served on the editorial board for the Virginia Journal of Law and Technology. He studied computer science and speech at BJU, where he debated competitively, winning best speaker for the Novice Division in the NEDA annual debate championship. Josh was homeschooled from the sixth grade through high school. He is also a member of Mensa. Currently, he teaches Logic I and II at the Classical Cottage Consortium in Winchester, Virginia.
